Breast & Cervical Unit
The unit was started in the year 2017 with the support of Penn Nalam Hospital (Women’s Cancer Care Centre). The aim of the unit is creating cancer awareness, preventing cancer through timely screening, and delivering cost-effective cancer treatment and care to women, especially for those who cannot afford hospital bills. The unit, is well-equipped to deliver low-cost cancer screening modules for the timely detection and diagnosis of cancer, thereby saving their lives on time. It offers a comprehensive treatment schedule for cancer, and other obstetric and gynaecological ailments. The unit also provides excellent post-treatment care and alternative treatments. With the support of Penn Nalam and Sri Dhanvantri Trust over 1200 women have been screened and more than 20 patients have been operated at subsidized rates. The patients are recruited through regular awareness and screening camps. The screening camps includes Pap Smear testing for cervical cancer screening and Mammogram for breast cancer screening. If any abnormalities are picked up it is then followed up with Ultrasound, Colposcopy, Biopsy, HPV Test, and affordable cancer treatment including surgery and chemotherapy.
